 Mr. Pilling is a Certified Video Forensic Field Technician and a current member of the Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Video Association International (LEVA). Over his career, he has conducted numerous forensic video analysis examinations and produced comprehensive reports, including court-admissible image charts, supporting investigations into homicides, sexual assaults, robberies, and other serious crimes.

 

With extensive hands-on experience, Mr. Pilling has collected and analyzed video evidence from hundreds of DVR systems across the City of Edmonton, reviewing content from over a thousand unique units. His work ensures that all video and still-image exports retain integrity and meet forensic standards.

 

As an educator, he co-authored and instructed the Forensic Video Field Technician Certificate course for Teel Technologies of Canada. This course equips students with knowledge on DVR technology, video compression, aspect ratios, and hands-on experience exporting video evidence through multiple methods. The program emphasizes both technical proficiency and legal reliability in video evidence collection.

 

Since founding Alberta Video Analysis Ltd. in 2015, Mr. Pilling has served a wide range of clients, including law enforcement agencies, legal counsel, and insurance firms, and has been qualified as an expert witness in both Alberta Provincial Court and Alberta King’s Bench Court.

 

Through AVA Ltd., Mr. Pilling continues to deliver accurate, reliable, and court-ready forensic video analysis, supporting the pursuit of truth and justice through advanced technical expertise.
