Clarification
In complex investigations, there is often video obtained from numerous locations in varying video formats and with use of proprietary codecs. This can complicate the viewing of such videos in the trail process. AVA Ltd. can compile the multiple videos into one continuous playing video thus helping to “tell the story” of what occurred in one easily playable video segment in a standard playable format.
Criminal activity often occurs during the night when limited lighting can affect how much you see when playing back the recorded video. In addition, “digital noise” may appear when the video is being played back. Through the use of forensic procedures, Alberta Video Analysis Ltd. (AVA Ltd.) can apply effects to the video that will make visible features that are hidden or abstracted by the darkness or digital noise. Thus bring other important information to the forefront of the viewer.
Demonstrative Evidence
Demonstrative evidence is produced from the original evidence and are used to identify or highlight portions of the evidence that has limitation and needs to be explained for the trier of fact to know, so they can decide how much weight to put on the original evidence. This helps the trier of fact to understand how the original evidence was compiled and what was lost because of the way the video plays back, or my assumed evidence does not show in the video. An example of this would be a firearm being discharged, yet the muzzle flash does not appear in the video.
Timeline videos are also produced from original evidence, and are displayed in chronological order to help the trier of fact to clarify how information from one video file, correlates to what is happening on another video at the same point in time. This is very helpful when dealing with multi videos having been obtained from numerous locations.
Video and Image Clarification
When videos and images are obtained in digital format, depending on the quality of the item, they can be clarified using specialized software. I am able to take the evidence, use the software and apply my knowledge and clarify the image or video. This helps one to be able to see evidence that was being obscured by the settings of the digital evidence.
Such an example of video clarification is seen below.
